We all have fears. What better way to live than to turn those fears to fuel us to push further? On 3 June the fears of open waters and jellyfish were faced by Mr Karl Cortis, a Junior College lecturer, and a number of other athletes who swam and ran all the way from Cirkewwa to Valletta, all to raise funds and awareness for the Len and Jacob Wellness Fund, which will help two young twins with Zellweger syndrome, a rare condition that requires a lot of research and support. After a total of 30km of running and 5km of swimming, all athletes managed to complete the event, showing that having a purpose can be a drive to beat your fears.
Well done to all.
