The second exchange as part of Erasmus+ project “The Best version of Myself: Habits for Success”, following that held in Malta last January, took place in Vaasa, Finland between 6 and 10 March. A group of 10 JC students accompanied by two leaders attended the exchange activity and were hosted by their Finnish partners from Vasa övningsskola.
Alongside students from Slovenia and Belgium, who were also hosted by Finnish school, students experienced the cold snowy weather of Finland, including the various sports associated with it, such as sledding, skiing, hiking in the snow or on frozen seas. They participated in various workshops, including a hands-on art session and exhibition. Other activities such as yoga, body balance and spinning were introduced as a means of improving the physical self. Students and teachers attended lessons and held discussions with their peers about the education system in Finland which is considered to be one of the best worldwide.
This was a fun filled bonding experience, where apart from dancing, games, and dinners together, the visiting students were hosted by their Finnish partners in their homes, where they experienced the local lifestyle and created bonds with the families of their counterparts. This way, it is believed they could experience the Finnish saying that "Once you get to know a Finn, you have a friend for life!"
