Dr Joe Doublet and Ms Antoinette Zammit Bugeja represented the Junior College as part of a delegation of educators from the University of Malta (UM), San Anton School, MCAST and a teacher of Chinese in Maltese schools in a cultural trip to China between 16 and 23 April 2026. They were also accompanied by Prof. Dennis Mizzi and Ms Nie Aixia, both Directors of the Confucius Institute at UM. The delegation visited Xiamen University, which is a partner university of UM, and participated in the International Chinese Language Day Carnival Event.

The members of the delegation also visited the Physical Education Department in Xiamen University, Hubin High School and Xiamen Haiwan Experimental Kindergarten. All these educational institutions provided interesting insights on the Chinese educational system. The delegation then moved to Xi’an visiting the Northwest University.  Besides, they also had the opportunity to immerse in the interesting culture of China and familiarise with their arts and traditions during visits to the Terracotta Army Museum, the Bell and Drum Towers, and the Ming City Wall in Xi’an. In Xiamen, a visit to Gulangyu Island and Southern Putuo Temple were included in the programme.
