Eleven Junior College students recently returned from an eventful week in Iniesta, Spain, as part of the Erasmus+ project, Habits for Success. This intensive week-long programme held between 3 and 8 May 2026 focused on equipping students with essential life skills, blending debate skills with holistic wellbeing, with a focus on mental health.
A core highlight was advanced debate strategies. Through structured workshops, students cultivated critical thinking and effective communication skills. These sessions were complemented by reflective practices, allowing participants to identify personal strengths and define their potential for future growth.
Recognising that peak performance requires a healthy mind and body, the project emphasised holistic wellbeing. The trip began with an energising hike in Alcalá del Júcar, serving as a vital icebreaker to foster team cohesion. Throughout the week, students further explored this balance through restorative yoga sessions, creative music and art workshops, ensuring a well-rounded experience.
Cultural immersion was equally significant. The group enjoyed a warm welcome at the Iniesta Town Hall and experienced the architectural and historical grandeur of Valencia. By collaborating closely with their Spanish counterparts, the JC students returned home with enhanced interpersonal skills, broadened horizons, and lasting international friendships.
