The University of Malta Junior College Continuous Professional Development Committee, in collaboration with the Junior College Administration, held its annual seminar entitled 'Wellbeing – Sustaining a Dynamic Learning Community'. This year's seminar was held on 30 May at a hotel in St Julian's.
Members of staff from the counselling services, sports and leisure department and the youth worker’s office within the College addressed issues related to factors affecting personal and educational well-being.
Guest speaker and clinical psychologist, Ms Anne Hamarsnes, discussed the importance of mindfulness as a personal and a pedagogical approach to enhance a more positive and engaging learning environment. Another guest speaker, occupational psychologist, Mr Gottfried Catania, from the Faculty for Social Wellbeing, University of Malta, spoke about the organisational factors enhancing the quality of life at the workplace.
During the seminar, participants took part in various activities and group sessions led by the speakers which helped to link theory to practice.
