Research Support Officers Drs Stephen Sciberras, Petramay Attard Cortis and Johann Scicluna, accompanied by Ms Iva Borg Frkic from the University’s Project Support Office attended the the “Convegno – il Progetto MEDIWARN”. The Convegno was held at the Centro Congressi of the Hotel Nettuno in Catania, Sicily on 24 October, 2019.
The MEDIWARN project is part-financed by the Italy-Malta Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020. It is a collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering, University of Catania, the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Malta and the Policlinico Vittorio Emanuele, Catania.
The focus of this convention was to present the Project’s progress, as well as to increase awareness of MEDIWARN. The improvements to patient care and staff workload expected to result from the MEDIWARN Project were highlighted.
Dr Sciberras spoke about “Come si condivide un idea” and Dr Attard Cortis explained “La parte clinica della ricerca” as planned to be held in Malta. Both presentations were delivered in Italian.
Presentations were also delivered by Dr Salvatore Nicosia and Dr Vincenzo Scuderi from the Policlinico Vittorio Emanuele in Catania; and by Prof Rosario Sinatra, Prof Alessandro Cammarata, Ing Pietro Maddio, Ing Santhosh Kurukunda, Pof Lucia Lo Bello and Ing Gaetano Patti from the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture at the University of Catania.
The Convegno was well attended and was followed by a Steering Committee meeting for the MEDIWARN project partners. Drs Sciberras, Attard Cortis and Scicluna, as well as Ms Borg Frkic, attended this meeting which is essential to the workings of the MEDIWARN project.
