On 13 February the Institute for European Studies held the book launch for its latest publication entitled ‘The Future of Europe: Demisting the Debate’. Edited by Dr Mark Harwood, Dr Stefano Moncada and Professor Roderick Pace, the book brings together 12 chapters and discusses a range of topics on the future of Europe.
The book launch was opened by Professor Carmen Sammut, pro-Rector and Chair of the Institute Board, with a key note address by the German Ambassador, His Excellency Walter Hassmann. Germany will assume the Presidency of the Council of the EU from July when the Conference on the Future of Europe takes shape.
After the keynote address a panel discussion, chaired by Ms Mandy Falzon (Head, MEUSAC), took place, comprising Professor Pace, Dr Moncada, Dr Jean Claude Cachia (Institute for European Studies) and Dr Valentina Cassar (Department of International Relations). The event was overseen by Dr Harwood, Director of theInstitute and closed by Professor Godfrey Baldacchino, pro-Rector and member of the Institute Board.
The book launch was followed by a reception held in conjunction with the Europe Direct Information Centre on campus. Copies of the book are available from the European Documentation Centre within the Institute.
