On the occasion of the Annual Pharmacy Symposium, the Department of Pharmacy invited the 31 local pharmaceutical science and pharmaceutical technology students who participated in the Erasmus+ mobility programme during the first semester of this academic year and the 51 international students presently following programmes offered by the Department, to the second edition of the Student Exchange Experience Sharing photo competition.
The Department of Pharmacy has over 90% of the students reading for their studies in pharmacy or pharmaceutical technology who take up this mobility. The local students who participated in the Erasmus+ mobility programme during the first semester of this academic year were invited to submit a photo of a non-curricular experience that they enjoyed in the host countries, while international students were invited to submit a photo taken in Malta. Eligible photos could show landscapes, architecture, the natural environment, street photography or cultural attractions, and were accompanied by a short description.
22 photos were submitted and were adjudicated by a panel consisting of three academic members of staff at the Department, who selected the best two representations from each group. The representations selected from the local student group were a photo of the Ahr Valley in Germany, captured by Mireille Debono during her Erasmus experience at the University of Bonn, and a photo of the Czarny Staw pod Rysami in Zakopane, captured by Paula Gambin during her Erasmus experience at Jagiellonian University in Poland. The representations selected from the international student group were photos of the Chinese Gardens of Serenity and the Blue Grotto, captured by Joana Lobo and Rita Esteves respectively, who are Erasmus students from Universidade do Porto following a hospital pharmacy traineeship in Malta.
