Together with colleagues from La Sapienza University in Rome, Dr Maria Cassar and Dr Josef Trapani from the Department of Nursing of the University of Malta have co-written an article titled ‘Measuring knowledge, attitudes and behaviour of nurses in medication management: cross-cultural comparisons in Italy and Malta’.
The article was published in the European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences.
In order to compile the data needed for this article, a cross-sectional survey of nurses working in Intensive Care settings in Italian and Maltese hospitals was conducted.
The study focused on the medication errors affecting patient safety, and it examined the knowledge, attitudes and behaviours related to these. The findings support the contention that the attitude of behaviour of nurses is similar across different contexts and countries where their training is regulated through a transnational directive.
