The Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta held the Dean's List ceremony on 3 December 2020.
Professor Dominic Fenech, the Dean, said that the fact that the ceremony was held behind closed doors, owing to the current public health situation, diminished nothing of the celebration of sheer excellence in the case of the five students who qualified for the honour. "Your achievement is so special that if at any time you come to doubt your abilities to meet a challenge, you should remember this moment", he told the students.
The Dean's List award is presented to the students who achieve A grades in at least 80 credits during the first two years of their course. Only students who have achieved high percentile grades without any fails or re-sits can be included.
This year, the students who have made it to the Dean's List were Mr Raffaello Bezzina (B.A. Honours Maltese), Ms Christabelle Borg (B.A. Honours Maltese), Ms Abigail Deguara (B.A. Honours Maltese), Mr Joseph Tong (B.A. Honours Spanish and Latin American Studies), Ms Michela Vella (B.A. Honours Linguistics).
Bank of Valletta, the sole sponsor of this academic award, renewed its sponsorship. During the ceremony, Ms Claudette Pace from the PR and Marketing Department was representing Bank of Valletta. Congratulating the students and presenting them with cash prizes, Ms Claudette Pace said, "It is indeed an honour on this occasion to represent Bank of Valletta, an institution that actively believes in the importance of investing in education and promotes continuous learning among its people."
