Dr Isabelle Gatt, from the Department of Arts, Open Communities and Adult Education within the Faculty of Education, was recently the international key note speaker at the online seminar “Performing Arts for Education” in Italy. The seminar was organised by the Suor Orsola Benincasa University in Naples and led by Professor Maria D’Ambrosio. Two eminent Italian theatre pedagogists, Professors Loredana Perissinotto and Giorgio Testa were guest speakers. The seminar brought together researchers, academics, stakeholders from the third sector in Education and Art and Culture institutions to discuss the way forward for Creativity and the Performing Arts in education in Italy.
The seminar preceeded a six-day intensive 28 hour workshop in Process Drama, also delivered by Dr Isabelle Gatt which introduced ideas generation and process drama techniques as well as focusing on self developmental exercises in voice, physical expression, mindfulness and ways to generate a deep presence and group engagement online.
