It’s officially summer, and hence time to be close to and enjoy the sea, which we’re so lucky to be surrounded by.
Which brings us to a UM project very much related to the oceans, more particularly the challenges of safer marine transportation, being led by Prof. Aldo Drago, the Coordinator of the Physical Oceanography Research Group – CALYPSO South.
CALYPSO South follows the trail of the previous CALYPSO and CALYPSO Follow On initiatives, with the aim of extending the CALYPSO High-Frequency radar network coverage between the Sicily-Malta channel.
The project has developed new monitoring and forecasting tools, and is delivering tailored operational downstream services to assist national responsible entities in their maritime security, rescue and emergency response commitments.
