A new Erasmus+ project, “Teaching Online: Video Initiatives in Digital Education and Module Learning”, referred to as TOVID, Agreement Number - 2020-1-MT01-KA226-HE-092434, Total Grant - Euro 242,397.00, kicked off this week, on Wednesday afternoon through a virtual meeting.
The TOVID project seeks to enable the potential of the project partners to navigate the new normal whereby the heightened demand and the increased prevalence of online learning in the education arena. The focus is on continuing education (CE) opportunities for qualified staff/ professionals. The COVID-19 pandemic was the main catalyst of the new normal.
Alongside repository of resources for educators regarding the development of and quality assurance in online teaching and learning, the project's outputs will deliver three main components . These are:
- (1) Get Ready; a digital programme to increase readiness by convincing educators regarding the inevitable uptake of online education
- (2) Get Started; a video programme to equip educators with the confidence, skills and knowledge, and
- (3) Get Online Teaching tips; a series of short educational videos amongst partners and stakeholders allowing the exchange of ideas and tips and building a community of educator peer-to-peer support and learn best practice.
The project will run over a period of two years, and is led by UM academics Prof. Colla McDonald and Dr Maria Cassar from the Digital Education Committee of the UM, chaired by Pro-Rector Professor Saviour Zammit. Ms Vania Tabone from the project support office is the administrator of the project.
The partners are University of Malta, Learning Works Ltd, Abo Akademi, Univerza Na Primorskem Universita Del Litorale, Ministry for Health - Government of Malta and University of Cyprus.
