In reaction to an article that appeared on Lovin Malta dated 24 July 2021, titled 'Here's Why People Went to Protest Against Vaccines And For Their Freedom In Valletta Today',
The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery acknowledges that its students may express their freedom of expression.
However, the Faculty disassociates itself from the personal opinion(s) of its students and declares that such statements do not reflect the position of the Faculty.
On the basis of scientific research and evidence-based medicine, the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery strongly encourages the public to be vaccinated. The vaccine proved to be an effective mechanism to control the spread and severity of the COVID-19 infection.
The Faculty takes this opportunity to thank its staff and students who had positively contributed and are still contributing to the national effort to deal with the pandemic through: planning, management and patient care.
