On 23 March 2023, the Faculty of Dental Surgery hosted its Stakeholders’ Meeting as part of its second Periodic Programme Review (PPR) exercise.
The meeting was organised by the Quality Assurance Committee and chaired by the Pro-Rector for International Development & Quality Assurance, Prof. Frank Bezzina. As per previous experiences, this was an opportunity to bring together internal and external stakeholders, namely external experts, staff, students and alumni, whose valuable feedback will feed into the continuous enhancement of the Faculty’s programmes.
All stakeholders provided insightful feedback about the strengths of the programmes under review and proposed recommendations with regard to content, learning outcomes, learning, teaching and assessment. A constructive discussion ensued praising the high standards of the programmes while exploring possibilities to address the stakeholders’ recommendations.
The Faculty Dean, Prof. Nikolai J Attard, remarked that such reviews are highly positive experiences that provide academic staff with an opportunity to stop and reflect, in the interests of evaluation and renewal to sustain relevance to the needs of society in this area while also prioritising students’ meaningful educational experience.
This professional dialogue instance among students, academics, alumni, administration and industry are in line with UM’s vision to sustain a culture of quality and improvement of its programmes.
