Dr Isabelle Gatt, Academic from the Arts, Open Communities and Adult Education Department, was in Lithuania to attend an ERASMUS+ International Teaching Week at the VMU at the Kaunas Campus in which 146 delegates from 46 countries participated (26 April - 3 May).
While she was there, she was invited by Prof. Auksė Petruškevičiūtė to deliver CPD practical sessions about Drama strategies to develop intergroup empathy to support social inclusion in the classroom as part of the Creative Forum "Inclusive School Culture: Lessons and Tips".
Participants were from different educational, cultural and social sectors. With a huge influx of Ukrainian refugees, the Lithuanian education system has been working on finding ways to support Ukranian refugees who face significant challenges of adaptation and inclusion.
Participants discussed important issues that arise in classroom and community and, during the session, Dr Gatt worked with them using drama strategies to help address issues mentioned.
