STup! 2023 International Student Start Up Competition is an annual event which provides support to University Startups and gives young entrepreneurs the opportunity to present their projects on the global startup scene.
The event was held on 30 June and 1 July 2023 in the Faculty of Economics, Business, and Tourism at the University of Split, Croatia, part of the SEA-EU Alliance. It saw the participation of 30 selected University startups from various parts of the world competing for the “Best University Startup” Award.
Ranier Bonnici, an M. Ent student, represented the University of Malta, where his participation was funded and supported by the UM SEA-EU Office.
One of the SEA-EU 2.0 initiatives is to encourage participation of students from SEA-EU partners in co-creation and innovation projects between students and teachers of the alliance. This fosters transnational exchange of knowledge and the creation of teams of various disciplines and backgrounds with the aim of solving social problems.
During the competition, thirty business ideas were pitched to judges holding senior positions in accelerator programs, venture capital companies, and investor summits.
Ranier pitched Evacuate, a software product that assists in the emergency evacuation process through scheduled alerts and notifications, ad-hoc two-way messaging, and a self-check-in process that helps make the headcount process more accurate and efficient.
Evacuate won 1st place and was awarded €7,500 in Infobip active credits.
Congratulations Ranier!
