University of Malta Associate Professor, Prof. Elisabeth Conrad, from the UM’s Institute of Earth Systems, was, together with a group of students from James Madison University, Virginia, were invited to the US Embassy in Malta, on the occasion of Earth Day 2024.
They met with Deputy Chief of Mission, Ken Toko, who explained the role of the US Embassy in Malta, and toured the grounds to learn about the sustainable energy features used in the building where the members of the Embassy work.
On Earth Day, which is celebrated annually on 22 April, the whole world is invited to show its support for environmental protection. The theme for Earth Day 2024 was ‘Planet vs. Plastics’, a commitment to call for the end of plastics for the sake of human and planetary health.
