38 students have recently obtained their Certificate of Proofreading in Maltese from the Department of Maltese at the University of Malta, and the official Maltese proofreading warrant from the National Council for the Maltese Language.
This brings the number of individuals who have successfully completed the course since its launch in 2006 to 730.
This was the 18th year of the course, which is conducted online over the span of a year.
Throughout its duration, students receive intensive training in spelling, grammar, and punctuation, aiming to elevate the standard of Maltese writing.
The Maltese language is essential for the work of many students who take the course, as they work in various fields such as translation, broadcasting, teaching, and the public sector, among many others.
This part-time, one-year course is organised by the Department of Maltese within the Faculty of Arts, in collaboration with the National Council for the Maltese Language.
The lessons, held twice a week, begin online in February, with exams conducted in person.
The next course starts in February 2025, and interested individuals can apply from mid-December until the end of January.
For more information about the course and application process, one can visit the National Council for the Maltese Language website or the University website.
