An intensive 24-hour training programme in Industrial Relations, spread over four days, kicked off on Tuesday, April 12. The programme is intended to improve the skills of Permanent Secretaries and Senior Heads in the public sector in dealing with trade union affairs and industrial relations issues and disputes. The knowledge acquired and skills honed as a result of this customised training experience should lead to a more confident and proactive handling of industrial relations by management professionals in public administrative management in Malta.
The course is being delivered by a variety of academics, administrators and practitioners and has been organised by the Centre for Labour Studies (CLS) at the University of Malta, in association with the Centre for Development, Research and Training (CDRT) of the Office of the Prime Minister.
Attending the launch was Mr Mario Cutajar, Principal Permanent Secretary and Head of the Civil Service, Dr Joyce Cassar, Permanent Secretary (Strategy & Implementation) OPM, Head of the CDRT, and Professor Godfrey Baldacchino, Chair of the CLS Board.
