A delegation led by Professor Nikolay Sysoev, Dean of the Faculty of Physics of the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), was recently hosted by the University of Malta (UoM). The aim was to create a structure through which concrete collaborative initiatives could be launched. This visit follows an initial exploratory visit by Professor Nikolai Sysoev, last October, and a reciprocating visit to MSU by a delegation led by University of Malta Rector, Prof. Juanito Camilleri, last January.
Lomonosov MSU counts numerous Nobel Laureates and foremost historical and contemporary academics within its annals. It is the top university in the Russian Federation and enjoys the highest National support and International recognition. (More information at www.msu.ru/en).
The MSU delegation conducted various meetings with members from the Faculties of Science, ICT, and Engineering, and also with members from the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Business Incubation (CEBI). The delegation from the Russian Federation was shown around the various research facilities and introduced to activities being held by the University of Malta. An agreement was reached for both Parties to nominate members for a working group specifically tasked with articulating and managing joint research projects and any related commercialisation initiatives.
