The International Institute for Baroque Studies at the University of Malta has published the eleventh issue of its annual newsletter Baroque Routes.
Professor Denis De Lucca’s lecture given at the Europe Cultural Days 2015 programme organised by the European Central Bank in the Deutsches Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt, on the 7th December 2015 is reproduced in this issue. This lecture, delivered to a large audience, was titled “Malta – The Splendour of its Baroque Architecture.”
Dr Stephen C. Spiteri reviews a book by Professor Denis De Lucca on Tomaso Maria Napoli and this Dominican Prior’s contribution to military architecture in the Baroque age while Mr Louis Scerri reviews the Journal for Baroque Studies published in 2015 and edited by Professor Frans Ciappara.
The newsletter also contains information on various activities organised by the Institute including the international conference on The Visual Power of Military Architecture in the Baroque Age, its public lecture outreach programme and its latest publication titled “Lines of Defence.”
