The Department of Public Policy will be collaborating with Campus FM to produce a new radio series, this time investigating the interconnection between politics and literature.
This series of programmes, Il-Politika fil-Letteratura, discusses political implications in works of literature from Malta and around the world. Both classical and contemporary literature will be brought under scrutiny in order to observe patterns, styles and attitudes adopted by authors when they write about political and sociological realities. The scope of this radio series is to discover literary works that have aimed to read or react at political phenomena revolving around the authors. Some were inspired to envision a utopian state, others to relay the horrors of dictatorship. Others used sarcasm to attack political elites crafting excellent parodies either through prose or poetry.
Dr Mario Thomas Vassallo and Andre' Debattista are researching and presenting this 17-programme series with the participation of Simone Chircop who will be reading excerpts from selected works. Several academics are invited as guest speakers in some of the programmes.
Il-Politika fil-Letteratura will be aired on Campus FM 103.7 FM every Tuesday at 20:00 and repeated on Wednesdays at 10:00 between February and May 2017.
