The University of Malta was selected to give a voice to students of Health Care, the professionals and caregivers of the future. Lauren Marie Grech, a midwifery student was selected for an in depth interview, Rebecca Zammit, pharmacy student, Daniela Vella, nursing student and Jeremy Spiteri Bailey, medical student, were also interviewed to showcase the different professional perspectives.
The target audiences include policy makers, health care service commissioners, health care professionals and interested citizens. The campaign was launched at 67th Regional Committee for Europe meeting in Budapest, Hungary in September.
The World Health Organization Regional office for Europe recently entrusted Prof. Maria Cordina, from the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, with coordinating the filming of ‘Voices from the Region’ in support of the health workforce.
This campaign aims to demonstrate healthcare users and caregivers sharing their personal experiences and reflections on health and the quality of care, health systems and how health governance impacts them directly.
This media campaign is expected to add value to the technical and strategic work undertaken by WHO Europe by putting a human face to the urgency of reorienting health interventions to be more responsive, anticipatory, agile and attuned to the needs of those who need them at a time when they need them.
