Professor Peter Mayo from the Department of Arts, Open Communities and Adult Education, Faculty of Education, University of Malta gave talks in London on 15 and 16 May at UCL-Institute of Education and Goldsmiths University of London respectively.
The first talk at UCL - IoE was on Hegemony, Migration and Misplaced Alliances. It was delivered as a Llakes(Centre for Research on Learning and Life Chances) seminar as part of Professor Peter Mayo's commitment as Visiting Professor at UCL-IoE for the two year period 2016-2018.
The next day he delivered a lecture to an audience consisting of academics and doctoral students from sociology, community development, media studies and cultural studies at the Professor Stuart Hall Building, Goldsmiths University of London. The talk was on Critical Pedagogy. This is the fourth time Professor Mayo delivered a talk/ seminar at Goldsmiths with last year's talk on his book 'Hegemony and Education under Neoliberalism. Insights from Gramsci' (Routledge) delivered at the Professor Richard Hoggart Building.
This is also the fourth time Professor Mayo delivered a Llakes seminar at the Institute of Education, the first of which before the Institute became part of UCL.
