The year 2018 marks the fifteenth anniversary of the Erasmus Agreement between the Institute for Sustainable Energy at UM and the School of Industrial Engineering and the Department of Physics at the University of Valladolid in Spain.
During these years, stronger ties have been built due to more active collaboration. In fact, a Ph.D. student from the University of Valladolid is currently collaborating with Dr Charles Yousif. The research paper is available online.

Dr Yousif has also contributed to another research paper together with a Maltese architect, currently Ph.D. at the University of Valladolid. The research paper is available online.
Dr Charles Yousif visited Valladolid University at the beginning of July. During his visit he proposed further initiatives, which include the organisation of a full-week technical visit for undergraduate engineering students from Valladolid to Malta.
The visit also included a detailed technical tour of one of the most prestigious LEED Platinum certified buildings in the world. It is the case of LUCIA, a building which forms part of the University of Valladolid campus, which has become Europe’s most sustainable new construction building and also of the entire Northern Hemisphere, due to energy saving and respect for the environment.

Thanks to the financial support of the EU Erasmus+ programme, the success of this collaboration has so far resulted in a total of 60 student exchanges and over 40 joint paper publications.
