The 4th consortium meeting of the EU-funded Erasmus+ research project Supporting Mathematics and Science Teachers in Addressing Diversity and Promoting Fundamental Values (MaSDiV) was recently held in Malta. This meeting was attended by participants from Universities and Ministries of Education from six European countries together with 10 experts from the European Impact Board of the project.
As part of the project, 108 teachers of science and mathematics from 32 Maltese state and non-state schools participated in a continuing professional development course. Through the CPD, teachers engaged in collaborative and reflective inquiry on the use of IBL strategies to address diversity and support learning of fundamental values in diverse and multicultural classrooms.
The University of Malta is represented in the MaSDiV project by Dr Josette Farrugia (coordinator), Dr Michael Buhagiar and Mr James Calleja from the Faculty of Education while Ms Mariella Galea and Mr Stephen Bezzina represent the Ministry of Education.
