Prof. Charles Savona-Ventura, Director of the Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at UM, was invited to represent the University of Malta during the 6th World Integrative Medicine Congress held in Shanghai, China on the 6-9 December 2018.
The meeting was organized jointly by the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine, the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, Shanghai Association of Chinese Integrative Medicine and Shanghai University for Traditional Chinese Medicine.
During the meeting, Prof. Savona-Ventura presented a meta-analysis study on the role of acupuncture in the management of diabetic peripheral neuropathy prepared jointly with one of the Centre's graduates Dr Samir Y. Abou-Hussein. He further chaired one of the scientific sessions. During his stay in Shanghai, Prof. Savona-Ventura also delivered a lecture at Shanghai University for TCM, outlining the model Malta has adopted to clinically, educationally and legally incorporate TCM within the prevalent western medical practice.
