Over the past days ten academic staff members from the Faculty of Education held meetings at the Universities of Catania and of Enna-Kore in Sicily. During these meetings with colleagues who specialise in various areas related to education, possibilities for collaboration were discussed in the light of the common features shared by the two contexts.
Proposals for such collaboration include the participation of the Faculty of Education in research projects, which could materialise through a proposed framework and a memorandum of understanding, partnerships for EU-funded projects and opportunities for staff and student exchange. Research on areas related to multiculturalism in schools and comparative education were deemed especially important for both contexts.
The delegation of the Faculty of Education, included the Dean Prof. Sandro Caruana, Heads of Department Dr Victor Martinelli and Dr Doreen Spiteri, and members of staff Prof. Ronald Sultana, Prof. Adrian Gellel, Prof. Milosh Raykov, Dr Tania Muscat, Dr Philip Bonanno, Dr Mario Pace and Mr Emanuel Mizzi. The Sicilian delegations were led by Prof. Paola Magnano (Enna-Kore) and Prof. Roberta Piazza (Catania).
A meeting was also held with the Rector of the University of Catania, Prof. Francesco Basile.
