Our very own Eleanor Bezzina, who we all fondly know as Nora, is the Sportswoman of the Year after being voted as the best female athlete of the year during the annual Sportivi Nazzjonali Contest. It was third time lucky for the athlete who was also a finalist in two previous editions of this coveted award.
Bezzina had a remarkable year in target shooting narrowly missing out on a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Australia in both the 25m and 10m Air Pistol events.
Her best feat came in February last year classifying fifth in the Grand Prix of France and competing against some of the world’s best shooters.
She also qualified for the final event of the 10m Air Pistol event at the Mediterranean Games placing seventh.
Bezzina polled a total of 79 votes in the final round edging the five other finalists to win the Sportswoman of the Year award.
Nora has been working at UM since 1997 and is currently working at the Office of the Registrar.
Congratulations Nora!
