On 23 and 24 May 2019, Dr Ing. Emmanuel Francalanza and Prof. Ing. Jonathan Borg from the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering held a research visit at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
This visit was held as part of the ELITE IPAS project funded by the Malta Council for Science and Technology with the aim of extending cooperation with KTH. During this visit several meetings where held with KTH academics, including Prof Mauro Onori, Head of Department for Production Engineering and Dr Antonio Maffei, Head of Unit and assistant professor at the same department.
The University of Malta academics also had the opportunity to present their research work to the research community at KTH during a seminar organised for researchers and Ph.D. students. Dr Ing. Emmanuel Francalanza presented work on the Digital Manufacturing Research being carried out at the University of Malta, whereas Prof. Ing. Jonathan Borg presented research work on Designing Emotionally Pleasing Products.
These research topics elicited much interests and an interesting discussion session was held with the KTH researchers. As a result a number of activities are being planned in the coming months, including a visit from KTH academics to the University of Malta, in order to consolidate and increase this collaboration.
