Last Sunday afternoon, former chairman of the Public Broadcasting Authority and former Chairman of the Board of PBS Ltd, Anthony Tabone, passed away at the age of 75.
He also served as a senior member of the management of Simonds Farsons Cisk, and was active in the community holding a number of roles with religious and cultural organisations- he was the Honorary President of the Grand Master Fra Antoine De Paule Philharmonic Society, and Honorary President of the musical society of La Stella Levantina in Attard.
After news of his demise broke late last week, some had nothing but words of praise for his work ethic, and his outstanding personality.
University of Malta Rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella: “I am shocked and saddened by Anthony’s sudden passing. He was a true gentleman and a great friend and supporter of the University of Malta. He served on Council for many years and I had the privilege to have his advice and counsel on innumerable administrative boards which he served. We will miss him.”
Director of the Marketing, Communications & Alumni Office, Mr Pierre Cassar: “Anthony was a true gentleman. I will forever cherish the time I worked closely with him at the Broadcasting Authority. He was a good listener and had a unique way of how to handle to handle divergent and opposing views.”
