A new online CPD course offered by the Faculty of Education at the University of Malta, is giving preservice Primary Art teachers and other educators interested in Visual Art Education the opportunity to further their knowledge in innovative pedagogies in visual art education and sustainable development.
The course is being delivered by experts in the field, who are also part of the Faculty of Education.
This study-unit forms part of an Erasmus+ co-funded project called CARE (Connecting Art with Real Life issues), which is a joint venture between the University of Malta, the University of Exeter, Frederick University in Nicosia, Aristotle University in Thessaloniki and the European Regional Council of InSEA.
It will train teachers in art education strategies informed by knowledge, skills, attitudes and values of Education for Sustainable Development, touching on topics like sustainable lifestyles, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, and appreciation of cultural diversity.
Art and sustainable development will be presented as interlinked modes of social action, sharing significant concerns with social contexts. Connections with local works of contemporary art and issues of sustainable development will also be discussed.
The mode of delivery will be online, mainly asynchronous, and participants will be able to follow most presentation, read texts and work on tasks in their free time.
The course will be completed by the first week of February 2021, and at the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate, as well as benefit from the development of a community of educators beyond the duration of the course.
Places are limited. To register, fill in the application form and send it via email.
