Professor Peter Mayo from the Department of Arts, Open Communities and Adult Education within the Faculty of Education, was recently interviewed by Italian daily newspaper, Il Manifesto.

He spoke about Gramsci’s scholarly teachings in the context of Brazilian schools.

Titled ‘L’educazione non indifferente’ (Non-indifferent education), the article differentiates between Gramsci’s teachings in Europe and the US, which are said to often be confined within the discourse of academics, and within Brazil, where political struggles of different social movements have led to the creation of movements leading to reforms in many sectors, including education.

Professor Mayo has been interviewed in various outlets internationally including Open Democracy, Truthout, Counerpunch, Bir Gun, Sol, Novosti and now Il Manifesto.
