The Malta University Debating Union is very pleased to announce two live-in training seminars on debating, which will be held on two weekends in October 2018, between the 20-21 and the 27-28. The seminars start on Saturday and continue through to Sunday lunch.
The training is being organised with the support and participation of the Cambridge Union Society with whom MUDU is developing a continuing relationship.
It is hoped that through this first training session, MUDU will be setting a solid foundation for its future debates to be on a more professional basis by imparting the skills and scientific techniques of debating and providing practical training in them. The sessions will incorporate both theoretical and practical experiences. The sessions will be followed by other activities for those involved, and would eventually open possibilities for participation in international events.
This unique opportunity is open to a very limited number of persons. Students registered at the University of Malta may apply. The application can take the form of a simple letter, incorporating the reasons why attendance at one of these training sessions would be beneficial to the applicant.
A selection board will decide on the applicants. Should the board consider it necessary, applicants would be invited for a discussion on their interests in debating. The decision of the selection board is final.
Participation in subject to a registration fee of EUR 30. This covers the seminar pack, 3 coffee breaks, 1 dinner, 2 lunches and 1 night accommodation and breakfast at the place where the seminar will be held.
The online registration form is to be submitted to MUDU by Sunday 30 September. No late applications will be received. Very important: those interested are asked to indicate, on the registration form, the dates they would like to attend the seminar.
