The European Patent Office and the EU Intellectual Property Office is offering UM graduates the opportunity to participate in a paid one year work-experience in either office, commencing in September 2020.
The European Patent Office (EPO) is the organ of the intergovernmental European Patent Organisation which carries out the task of granting European patents, including drawing up European search reports and examination of European Patent applications. The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) is the European Union Agency responsible for registering European Union trademarks and European Union designs in the EU, and for running the EU Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.
The PES traineeship is a 12 months programme and it aims at young graduates, who have obtained a full undergraduate/master's degree or its equivalent no later than two years prior to the date of the application, or are currently enrolled in PhD studies.Graduates.
Interested applicants must first notify their respective Department of their application. These will then be reviewed and shortlisted and the names of shortlisted applicants is to be sent to the Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) via email by close of business on 17 March 2020. Kindly specify which entity they have been shortlisted for. Please also note that the same candidates cannot be included in the EUIPO and EPO shortlists.
The KTO will then compile the final list of shortlisted candidates from the various areas which will be submitted by the Office to the EPO and EUIPO. As the deadline for final recommendations by the UM is 18 March and while understanding the short timeframe available, it would be much appreciated if all recommendations our office within the internal stipulated deadline. This would allow for a short window for any queries to be discussed prior to submission to the respective entities.
Candidates are to then submit their applications through the e-recruitment tool by 22 March 2020.
