The MATSUMAE International Foundation is accepting applications for postdoctoral fellows in Japan.
This is a fully funded fellowship for non-Japanese researchers to join a university, national research institute, or equivalent facilities in the private sector across Japan, and engage in research for about 6 months. It is focused on the natural sciences, engineering, medicine, and related areas.
Applicants must hold non-Japanese nationality, have a Ph.D. (Doctorate), and born after, or during, the 1980s. Prior to the application, they must secure acceptance from a Japanese host institution and also have had no prior long-term stays in Japan (except for short visits). In addition, they must proficiently speak English, or Japanese, have an occupation in their home-country, and committed to return and contribute to the development of their home country after the fellowship.
The programme aims to contribute a monthly allowance of JPY 220,000 for your research activity and living expenses, and also support the researchers’ mobility with an arrival fund of JPY 120,000 for initial costs, including a round-trip airfare, along with a comprehensive overseas travel insurance.
To Apply, submit to MIF-Japan by 30 June 2025.
