The Mediterranean Journal of Migration, published by the Platform for Migration, has released its second compilation of articles, offering a critical and multidisciplinary analysis of migration challenges with a particular focus on Malta and the wider Mediterranean region.
This issue brings together diverse scholarly perspectives on pressing migration challenges, including examination of the ongoing crisis in regional migration governance and the use of detention practices. It also features personal narratives, exploring the struggle for belonging among Albanian migrants in Malta, alongside an ethnographic report categorising migrant communication approaches shaped by local ‘discrimination’. Other contributions assess the insufficient state of judicial safeguards against arbitrary detention in EU border states and highlight the role of grassroots museums in fostering empathy and inclusion through alternative storytelling.
We warmly invite you to explore the new issue and follow upcoming calls for abstracts and special issue on the Platform’s social media and the University of Malta’s channels.
The Platform for Migration and the Editorial Board are grateful to all authors, reviewers, and contributors for their support in bringing this issue to publication.
