Erasmus+ ICM academic visit from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University

Within the framework of the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) programme, Associate Prof. Merab Khokhobaia, a representative of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), participated in an academic staff mobility at the UM.

The mobility provided an important opportunity for professional development, international academic engagement and the strengthening of institutional cooperation between the two universities.

During the mobility period, Prof. Khokhobaia gained valuable insight into the educational environment, institutional practices, and internationalisation strategies implemented at the UM.

The visit offered a first-hand experience of European approaches to higher education management, teaching methodologies, quality assurance processes, and international academic cooperation.

One of the key outcomes of the mobility was the further enhancement of relations between TSU and the UM. The exchange created a platform for discussing future collaborative initiatives, including staff and student mobility opportunities, joint research activities, and the sharing of best practices in higher education.

Such cooperation contributes to the internationalisation objectives of both institutions and supports the development of sustainable academic partnerships.

The Erasmus+ mobility also highlighted the importance of international academic collaboration in addressing contemporary challenges in higher education. Through engagement with colleagues and university representatives, Prof. Khokhobaia had the opportunity to exchange experiences, explore innovative educational practices, and strengthen professional networks within the European academic community.

Following the mobility, the knowledge and experience acquired at the UM were shared with colleagues at TSU. Discussions focused on international cooperation opportunities, European higher education practices, and the role of academic mobility programmes in supporting institutional development and global engagement.

The experience once again demonstrated the value of Erasmus+ mobility initiatives in fostering academic exchange, professional growth, and long-term cooperation between universities across Europe and beyond.
