We investigated whether the dielectric permittivity measurement using open-ended coaxial probe can be reliably modelled using computer electromagnetic simulations followed by the postprocessing calculations based on the simple capacitive-load model. NaCl solutions with various concentrations were used as MUTs, to investigate how ionic conductivity affects the validity of the models. Two different simulation methods were used: one solving in the frequency domain and one in the time domain. Furthermore, we also performed physical experiments with the same probe and MUTs, again implementing the simple capacitive-load model on the measurement data, to observe the overall validity of such post processing model.
