Abstract: Review of the book by Chev. Sammut. From "Scudo to Sterling : currency in Malta 1798 - 1887". The book spans three outstanding periods in Maltese history which were the result of the political and military turmoils that afflicted Europe, from the time of the French Revolution in 1789 to the Peace of Paris in 1814, which determined the ultimate fate of the Order of St. John and ushered in one hundred and sixty years of British rule.
