| Abstract: | Pocket beaches are flanked on both sides by headlands which restrict the longshore transport of sediment (and possibly even of water-borne biota), such that pocket beaches are essentially isolated from each other, resulting in a high degree of inter-beach distinctiveness of macrofaunal assemblages. |
