| Abstract: | The editorial focuses on St. Lazarus of Bethany, who is the patron saint of the order and whose feast is celebrated on December 17. This issue of the Order of Charity Newsletter focuses on social stigma suffered by leprosy patients - especially in India. In some parts of India, leprosy can also be used as grounds for divorce. This Newsletter also describes the funeral of Ruth Pfau, a German nun who championed care for lepers in Pakistan. A case of leprosy in an elementary school in Los Angeles is also discussed. |
