Abstract: A close look at the production, use and significance of “Ecclesiastical Embroidery” in Maltese Christian history. It maps vestments from as far back as the 11th century, identifying the different (international and local) artists/manufacturers involved. The latter part discusses the collection of worship-embroidery housed at the Senglea Basilica; giving detailed accounts of designers, workmanship, motifs, and current conditions of the artefacts. This insightful discussion on the history & industry of Church ornamentation was published as part of the Life & Wellbeing segment and features several images.
