| Abstract: | Early work in the field of entrepreneurship focused heavily on the characteristics of entrepreneurs. However, it is probably safe to say that psychological and sociological traits and characteristics of entrepreneurs has been researched to death. The entrepreneur and entrepreneurship are not the same thing. Indeed today the focus is increasingly on how to foster an entrepreneurial orientation in finns large and small. Entrepreneurship can probably be best viewed as the process of creating value by bringing together a unique package of resources to exploit an opportunity. Seen as a process, distinct from particular individuals. it can be viewed as existing. to some degree or amount, in all organisations, irrespective of size or type. Today there is broad consensus among academics that the entrepreneurial construct has three distinct dimensions: innovation, risk taking and proactiveness. Innovation is the central value of entrepreneurial behaviour and involves seeking the creation of unusual or novel solutions to problems or needs. |
