| Abstract: | Teatru Astra presents the programme for the series of musical sketches "Carousel", produced and musically directed by Mro. Giuseppe Giardini Vella with co-producer Anton Mizzi. The event featured performances of scenes from Verdi's opera "La Forza Del Destino" and Puccini's Opera "Madama Butterfly", as well as a sketch adaptation of Offenbach's "Tales of Hoffmann" entitled "Students on Strike" (adapted by Giuseppe Giardini Vella), and a parody of "Fiddler on The Roof" (translated by G. Cassar). The performances featured the Astra Stage Dancers (choreographed by George Mejlaq) and the Astra Choir (directed by Alfred Arnold and co-directed by Julian Refalo Rapa). The performance was held on the 27th and the 29th of April, 1972, at Teatru Astra, in Victoria, Gozo. |
