Exploring the factors that affect the quality of life of young people from their perspective

Abstract

This study explores the factors that influence the quality of life of Maltese young people. It aims to conceptualise their perspectives and evaluate how these factors impact their life situations. Data was collected meticulously using qualitative research methods such as interviews to determine the main factors that influence young people's perceptions of their quality of life. The findings suggest a widespread feeling of dissatisfaction in multiple domains that impact the overall quality of life, with the environment playing a crucial role. The study has shown that financial instability, physical environment issues, and societal pressures, are major factors that significantly contribute to an increase in mental and physical health among young people. This study focuses on the urgent need for specific interventions, support systems and adequate policies to reduce the negative impact on the quality of life experienced by young people and improve their overall wellbeing in contemporary society.
