Abstract: Manoel Theatre and the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Culture present the programme for an operatic concert, conducted by Mro. Joseph Sammut, led by George Spiteri, and performed by the Manoel Theatre Orchestra. The concert starred soloists Anna Maria Pizzoli (soprano), Christina Anghelacova (mezzo soprano), Isidoro Antonioli (tenor), and Stoyan Popov (baritone). The concert featured the musical (operatic) works of Gounod, Leoncavallo, Cilèa, Puccini, Verdi, Bizet, Donizetti, Mascagni, Giordano, and Ponchielli. The performance was held as part of the International Arts Festival 1983, on the 5th of August, 1983, at St. Paul's Square, in Mdina.
Description: Programme includes essay on history and design of Mdina and its landmarks written by Michael Ellul, map of Mdina, photos of conductor Mro. Joseph Sammut and singers Christina Anghelacova, Anna Maria Pizzoli, Isidoro Antonoli and Stoyan Popov, list of featured music including composers and their operas, essay on the history of the Manoel Theatre, and list of members of the Manoel Theatre Orchestra.
