Abstract: Manoel Theatre presents the programme for the 3-act tragic opera "La Traviata", adapted from Alexandre Dumas' novel "La Dame aux Camélias" by librettist Francesco Maria Piave, with music composed by Giuseppi Verdi, and directed by Nikolai Nikolov. The opera featured the musical performance of the Manoel Theatre Orchestra (conducted by Borislav Ivanov and led by George Spiteri), and Għaqda Kantanti Liriċi Maltin (directed by chorus master Michael Laus). The performance also featured a dance sequence created by Mary Jane Bellia and Ray Mamo. The performance was held on the 1st, the 3rd, and the 5th of October, 1992, at the Manoel Theatre, in Valletta.
Description: Two copies of programme included, one with performers'/crews' signatures, and the other without. Both programmes include photo of composer Giuseppe Verdi, synopsis of each act of the opera, pictures and photos of some outstanding actresses for Violetta: Fanny Salvini-Donatelli, Rosina Penco, Marietta Piccolomini, Amelita Galli-Curci, Maria Callas and Rosa Ponselle, list of cast, list of members in the Għaqda Kantanti Liriċi Maltin Choir, list of backstage crew, notes with photos on cast members Sofia Ivanova, Orlin Goranov, Alexander Krounev, Tiha Genova, Jenny Zhivkova, Damian Velcev, Orlin Pavlov, Peter Odadjiev and Evstati Dimitrov, notes with photos on musical director Borislav Ivanov and Nicolai Todorov Nicolov, and an essay introduction to the libretto of the opera taken from a Riverrun Press (New York) article written by John Nicholas.
