| Abstract: | Manoel Theatre and the European Piano Teachers' Association (Malta) present the programme for the final night of the second national piano competition, featuring young pianists Veronica Stivala, Christine Cassar, Jennifer Azzopardi, Geraldine Darmanin, Charlene Farrugia, Joanne Camilleri, and Maureen Galea. The competitors were judged by pianists Cynthia Turner, Eleanor Bailie, Karen Briscoe, Josephine Grima, Lucia Micallef, and Iori Michael. The competition performance featured the musical works of Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Clementi, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Schumann, Bartók, Mozart, Liszt, Debussy, Haydn, Chopin, and Gershwin. The event was held on the 27th of January, 1996, at Sala Isouard, in the Manoel Theatre, in Valletta. |
